Great for ponds after 4 inches!

Product Description

A very brilliantly colored phase of the Red Eared Slider; as their name implies, Rio Grande Red Ears originally come from the same South Texas water ways that produce several different very beautiful color phases of turtles. Even as adults, Rio Grandes maintain a very distinctly vibrant coloration that brightens up any turtle colony. Juveniles make very good starter turtles, they do well in tanks, and most set ups that have lots of water.

Rio Grande Red Ears behave essentially the same as normal Red Ears. They love to bask, and will even pile on top of each other for the best sunning position. In community set ups, it's often their example that quickens other species' taming down. Red Ears are omnivorous, eating pellets, most greens, insects, fish, mollusks etc.

    Very cute, strong and active!

This is my first time buying live animals online, i did a lot of back and forth thinking if I'm gonna buy or not, I look around the reptiles store near us and could not find red eared sliders, we have one baby red eared slider that was given to me and my husband and we want to have at least 3 more so he could have buddies! After reseaching and reading reviews I decided a go and bought three, all red eared sliders but different kinds, this rio grande which i love the bright green color , albino and heterozygous which by description has a gene of albino. Communication is GREAT from the beginning to untill the turtles are delivered! They made sure my turtles will be safe because the weather is hot! But they made it alive and strong! it was overnight shipping from Florida to Sacramento,CA. They communicate through the whole process from buying to shipping updates. It was a great experience as a first time buying live animals online. Very satisfied buyer here and will recommend to family and friends! By the way I only bought three but they came in four! I got free one

Ordered a yearling RIO RES came the next day in perfect health. Amy helped me very much through the process due to me wanting to pair him up with my Mississippi map turtle and they are best friends now.

    Sad!

Posted by Jenna on May 6th 2022

This turtle arrived in a cardboard box with a few holes punched in it. The box had some newspaper crumpled up, a small ziplock bag of turtle food, and a green fabric bag. The turtle was inside the green fabric bag which was zip-tied shut. I felt so sad for the poor turtle! Seems to be doing ok now, but we will see. He is very skiddish.

    Rio Grande Red Eared Slider

I received this little guy and he is just the cutest. I had him delivered to my work address because I was worried about the outside temperatures. He arrived safely packaged with warmers in the box so he was quite comfortable. He's been swimming around my aquarium and spends a lot of time hiding. My grandchildren play "Where's Rio?" trying to find him.
