Product Description
Red-footed Tortoises are the inhabitants of the exotic jungles of the Caribbean, Central and South America. They are quite intelligent, they have good memory and learn rapidly where and when food is available; and where shelter and basking is to be found. They have a strong sense of smell, and their sense of touch includes even the slightest contact with their shell.
Grasses, clover hay, dark, leafy greens, (except for spinach) cactus, carrots and mixed vegetables are all good for Red-footed Tortoises. Sweet, red fruits are their favorites. Supplements that are high in calcium and low in phosphorus, are best for this hearty species.
Red-footed Tortoises do very well in community settings. With a little extra care, hatchlings thrive with other tortoises. Shallow, warm water soaking every third day, a warm basking spot and plenty of food is the key for these pretty starter tortoises.
Red-footed Tortoises are one of the most popular species kept the world over - and once you begin working with them, it's easy to see why.

Red Footed Tortoise (Adult)
I first bought my first baby toward from Mark about 20 years ago. Unfortunately, we lost him about two months ago.. our family was devastated. he flipped over on his back when we weren’t home and it was a hot day and he stressed out so we decided to buy another tortoise from Mark again we bought a baby and he was just perfect and we’re enjoying him but we realize it will be years before he can walk around the house so we decided to get an adult tortoise from Mark. I spoke with Amy in the office who is by the way very helpful. She told me that the male tortoise was very healthy and she would send me a picture. I could see some pyramiding, but I didn’t realize until I got our boy how bad it was. I was surprised that they would even sell a tortoise with this kind of a shell.. Amy said I could send him back and get my money back. My grandson was already playing with him and of course I wouldn’t do that. We got him in the mail and I would not stress him out again and send him back so I would never buy another adult tortoise from the Turtle Source.. I must say I was very disappointed this time.

Red Footed Tortoise- 9” Adult Female
Pumpkin arrived sound asleep in a live box probably sedated. Unpacking was straight forward. Fed her Mazuri. She then took a stroll in the greenhouse. Live in the Northeast. A greenhouse is helpful for winter flowers and vegetables. Waiting for a Toad Ranch for final housing. Using quarantine house, presently. Very healthy. Activity in greenhouse is great.
