One of the oddest & rarest tortoises species ever seen, the African pancake tortoise actually has a soft plastron (bottom shell) which it contracts to fit into tight spaces. Full grown 5 - 6 inch adults can be just an inch thick...In time African pancake tortoises become quite friendly. One of the few species that love to climb, you can actually set up a 3 dimensional tank/pen for them.

Pancake Tortoises are only found in the rocky outcrops of southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. Very few Pancakes are hatched by breeders - so move fast when ever one or two become available, as they make very personable little pets and can live for many decades ...
