Yes really - a Paradox Albino Snapper !!
We were so happy to see our albino common snapper project finally come to fruition after 10 years of dedicated work - and now this pops up...
From what we can figure, only about 1% (or less) come out this way - Paradox !
When we stumbled upon Paradox Albino Red Ears years ago - the dominant Paradox trait meant that an albino turtle would also show patches of normal green coloring - even on the skin.
Almost identically, Paradox Albino Snappers have blotches of normal coloring (brown/black in the case of snappers) all over their shell and their head, their limbs and tail.
Talk about beautiful !
Albino Snappers themselves are incredible to look at - all the prehistoric features of little snapping turtles, and made even more breathtaking by the Paradox blotches all over his/her skin and shell.
In Red Ears, the Paradox gene is dominant, meaning that if a Paradox breeds with a non Paradox, all the offspring will share the Paradox trait.
Paradox Snappers are brand new, we don't even know if anymore will hatch, so it is too early to tell if the Paradox gene is also dominant in Snappers...
Talk about beautiful ! Just look at the pictures, this is one of the prettiest turtles you will ever see - and there is only one !
