Amazon Basin Yellow Foots are the giants of all the South American tortoises. Normal adult Yellow Foots rarely exceed 16 inches - these massive tortoises can grow to 32 inches, and exceed 115 pounds. Found only in the Brazilian and Peruvian Amazon Basin, these Yellow Foots are an incredible sight in person. Their huge size is likely an adaptation to their environment - but is not known for certain.
We have a handsome group of 2 year olds, that are already 6.5 - 7.5 inches. Comparing them to our 3 inch, two year oldnormal Yellow Foots, it's easy to see where these fast growing tortoises are headed... Adults are perfect for larger out door pens (our 2 year olds fit well in mid - large sized tanks), Amazon Basin Yellow Foots get along very well with larger Burmese Mountain Tortoises, Elongated, Red Footed, Sulcatta, Aldabra and normal Yellow Footed Tortoises. Not normally available, these rare Yellow Foots are the result of many years of hard work by a very experienced breeder. Aside from needing a well built, large pen some day, their husbandry and diet is the same as for normal Yellow Footed Tortoises.
