BASIC INFORMATION:

Looking at our hatchling photos, it's not easy to see how pretty our Giant Mexican Musk Turtle bloodline is. Once they reach the two years old size, the golds and yellows really begin to come out... Add in the very sharply contrasted markings and our very beautiful version of Gaint Mexican Musk turtles stand out as some of the nicest anywhere. Over 3 generations, we have held back the prettiest turtles to develop these impressive versions of this species. Excellent for larger tanks, or to put with other captive born Triporcatus of the same size, we can even determine the gender at the 3 year old size (two year olds are an educated guess). Their description and husbandry follows:

Mexican Giant Musks are one of the very best tank turtles. Excellent swimmers, they do well in shallow water, and when raised with others of their kind, they get along just fine. They are incredible predators, and will pretty much eat what ever they can catch. We raise ours on fish, meat and pellets. They will also take some plants.

Featured in an article in the March 2008 issue of Reptiles Magazine, S. Triporcatus is the largest of the Mexican Giant Musk Turtles. They range from the Yucatan Peninsula, into parts of Honduras Guatemala and Belize.
