High Orange Florida Red Bellied Turtle (Yearling): Pseudemys Nelsoni

Description

One year ago this very pretty turtle hatched out from an early clutch of normal looking Florida Red Bellies... Looking at his coloring, we knew he was something special. His shell seems to get more and more orange with every passing month. At 11 months old, he is 2.25 inches and 33 grams. When he's ordered, we will include two normal colored Florida Red Bellies to keep him company, for color comparison and possibly for future breeding. We've been excited about him for sometime now - as we've never seen this color phase before... His description and care is the same as for normal colored Florida Red Bellies and follows:

Florida Red Bellied Turtles are brightly colored as juveniles, they make excellent starter and fine community tank members. This species tames quickly, loves to bask and will pile on top of other turtles if necessary, to get a good spot on a log. They are great for keepers just starting out, they are very active both above and below the water surface; and once set up properly require very little - except your viewing enjoyment.

Mostly herbivores, Florida Red Bellies will take romaine and other lettuces, and pellets. Juveniles will eat some insects if offered. They get along with nearly all other turtle species, and can even share their tanks with fish.
