Hypo Melanistic Common Snapping Turtles: Chelydra serpentina

Description

The orange and yellow snappers featured on our photo gallery are 2006 Hypomelanistic Common Snapping Turtles. They are now laying eggs for us. Each month we offer a small number of these beautifully colored turtles on this site. The Hypos come in Black and White, Silver, Cream/White, Yellow, Orange and Red. At two inches their color begins to show, by three inches they are“glowing.”At four inches the Oranges show up. Due to numerous requests, we will try to list them at 3 - 4.5 inches. We offer them at $395 - $495, sometimes they can take a month to be ordered, sometimes they all sell out in less than 5 minutes .

We are only able to list a few at a time, and they don't last long - Keep an eye on our site for availability.

Now Available:

Hypo Snapper #1, in the top photo, has a medium brown 3.25 inch shell with golden highlights in the center of each scute. This snapper is very nearly a Super Hypo with tons of Orange all over it's legs, belly head, neck and tail...It has some dark markings on it's head & top of it's tail. It's claws are bright white. Looking at it in your hand, this turtle floors you with it's bright orange color. At 165 grams, it is a particularly nice Hypo, and is perfect in every way: $495

Hypo Snapper #2, in the middle picture is a solid white/yellow color on the belly and legs. It's head is bright white with a few small black flecked markings on top and hints of orange on it's cheeks. This very brightly colored snapper has a perfect, round 2.5 inch shell with one of the lightest colors we've ever produced. It's skin is a very light pinkish orange, and it's belly is white/yellow with very faint gray markings, and it's claws are bright white. At 95 grams it is a flawless turtle, and one any snapper keeper would be proudest of: $395

Hypo snapper #3, in the bottom photo, is a 2.75 inch bright yellow colored snapper with some hints of orange coloring on it's cheeks and on the tip of it's nose. It's shell is a bright yellow with a sharply contrasting pattern that extends all the way to the tip of the tail. It's claws are white, and it has some unusual bright white markings on it's belly, lower jaw and cheeks. At 85 grams, our #3 Hypo is the nicest of the few yellow ones we have. This turtle is very similar to the color our 3 web site featured yellow Hypos were at this age - as he/she matures the color will continue to intensify: $395 *Sorry, Hypo Snapper #3 has been ordered *

Please note that California, Washington state and Oregon do not allow Snapping Turtles to be kept by individuals - so we cannot ship Snapping Turtles to those states without special permits.
